The first site on this list is Metacafe. The site has a rewards program based on the number of times your video is viewed by visitors. There isn’t much fine print here. It’s as simple as it gets. The more your videos are watched, the more you get paid. Under their current program, you’ll earn $5 for every 1000 times your video is viewed. There’s only one catch. Similar to a lot of affiliate programs and Google’s Adsense program, you don’t get paid until you hit the $100 minimum payment threshold (approximately 20,000 views). While it might seem an insurmountable hurdle, any YouTube video fan knows that 20,000 isn’t that hard to do if your video catches on. Good quick videos can be incredibly viral and a low budget video shot on a home camera can generate millions of views over its lifetime. Take this video of Freddie “the YYZ Guitar Hero” on YouTube, for example. Since October 2006, the video’s been viewed on YouTube over 5 MILLION times. In a profit-sharing program like Metacafe’s, this video would have earned….ummm…carry the two…… $25,000 to date (and counting).

Hold on, we’re not moving on just yet. There’s more. If you have a website but don’t have any videos of your own you’ll be able to get in on the action pretty soon. Metacafe is about to launch an affiliate program for publishers where you can easily embed videos into your website or blog (YouTube style) and get paid based on the number of views. It hasn’t been officially launched yet, but you can check it out on their affiliate page.

My Top For-Profit Pick: Revver

Revver, although similar, has a slightly different revenue model to Metacafe. In my opinion, this could be A LOT more lucrative than Metacafe’s basic per-view program because Revver’s publishing tools make videos 10 times more viral. Here’s how it works… Users still earn money based on the number of views a video gets. However, instead of paying per view and leaving the content as-is, Revver inserts advertisements onto users’ videos and pays them a 50/50 share of the profits from those ads. The more viewers a video gets, the more money you get. Here’s where the program really gets good…when you upload a video to Revver, in addition to attaching an ad, they also attach unique tracking technology to the video. Revver ads can be served like YouTube on ANY blog or site, anywhere on the Internet. Since ads are attached to the video itself and dynamically served wherever your video travels, there’s no restriction on how your videos are distributed. The more people email your video, post it to other websites or download it from P2P networks, the more money you could earn. Consider that for a second. Now we’re talkin!

Beating Google To the Punch: Flixya’s Embedded Adsense Ads

This one’s worth mentioning for historical purposes, but I think it’ll probably be phased out soon. Flixya is a lot like Revver in that is shares ad revenues on a 50/50 basis with its users. However, instead of using their own ads, Flixya uses Google Adsense to serve ads into video pages. Although they beat Google’s recent adsense-for-video program (fed by YouTube) to market, Google’s Adsense for video program is now available free to all adsense publishers as of a few months ago (which you can see in the right sidebar of this site). Publishers under Google’s adsense for video lets you keep 100% of the click revenue and it works seemlessly with Adsense serving related content in classic Google style, so I don’t see Flixya being a real player in the for-profit video sharing arena for very long. I thought I’d acknowledge it though. ;-).

Bidvertiser Announces A Pay Per Click Advertising Solution for Feedburner Feeds!

Finally someone came up with a solution to monetize Feedburner Feeds outside of Feedburner’s Ad network. Feedburner’s internal ad network kept a lot of smaller blogs out of the game by requiring a minimum traffic count, so this should generate a good buzz with small blog owners. When Feedburner announced it’s up-coming integration with Adsense a few months ago and then didn’t offer its publishers a way to actually deliver Adsense ads within the feeds themselves, a lot of people were disappointed. I definitely was, especially because the solution that they did offer when it was finally released just embeded Adsense ads within your posts on your blog, which only takes a simple do-it-yourself quick fix at the bottom of your singlepost.php file. This morning, Bidvertiser Announced 3 distinct solutions to this problem and they should do really well with them. All of them allow you to keep your current feeds and feed counts. Here they are.

For Wordpress users that DONT use Feedburner, the new Bidvertiser Wordpress Plugin allows you to seamlessly embed the Bidvertiser Ads in your feeds. You can download the plugin from your publisher account.

Do you want to make money blogging? If you do - you’re not alone. More and more bloggers are finding that blogging is a profitable medium. Whether it be to earn a few extra dollars a week to feed their coffee habit, or making enough money to stop them having to get a part time job to get through college, or whether they’ve got it to a point where they are able to make a full time living from their blogging - there are tens of thousands of bloggers making money from blogging.

In this page I want to share some information for beginners on making money from their blogs.

I will start by sharing my own top Money Making Methods (updated regularly) but below that point you to some great resources and teaching on how to increase your income from blogging.

What follows is a quick summary of my main income streams from blogging. Before you read it though - keep in mind that every blog is unique in how it can make money. Some of the following income streams will work on some blogs a lot better than others - the key is to experiment with as many as possible and see what works best for you.

The following income streams (from a number of blogs) have helped me to earn a six figure income each year for the last three years from blogging. I’ve ranked them from highest to lowest.

I hope you find it useful to see the mix and variety of ways that I earn a living from blogging.

1. AdSense

Despite not using it here at ProBlogger any more (here’s why) I continue to use AdSense with amazing effect on my other blogs. I have them all set to show image and text based ads and find that 250×300 pixel ads work best (usually with a blended design). I don’t have much luck with their ‘referrals’ program but their normal ads work a treat and continue to be the biggest earner for me.

2. Chitika

Chitka continues to be a great performer for me on my blogs. They work best on product related blogs although their recent announcement of their Premium ad unit is exciting as they now offer ads with a non product focus that I’m hearing great conversions on (I have one reader who is getting $28 CPM on this ad unit).Chitika offers a range of ad units that I experiment with. I find their eMiniMalls work best and that Related Product Units are also good. Their Shoplincs product isn’t performing as well as it once did for me - mainly because I’ve been promoting it less and have driven less traffic to it. Over the time I’ve been using Chitika they’ve now earned me over a quarter of a million dollars - I can’t recommend them enough!

3. Private Ad Sales/Sponsorships

Private ad sales directly to advertisers have continued to grow over the last few months and as a result they’re now my third highest income stream. I expect them to overtake both Chitika and AdSense in the coming months. This includes ad sales of the 125 x 125 ads here at ProBlogger as well as a campaign or two at Digital Photography School.

4. Amazon Associates

Amazon’s affiliate program has been one of my big movers in the last 12 months. I used to make a few odd dollars from it - however in recent times it has become a significant earner for me (as I’ve shared previously). This quarter it grew even more than previously as a result of continued growth of DPS where I recommend books, software and cameras.

5. Miscellaneous Affiliate Programs

I run a variety of affiliate programs on my blogs - most of which bring in smaller amounts of money that don’t really justify a category of their own. These include - - Digital Photography Secrets (a camera technique series), Pro Photo Secrets (a great photoshop product) , Yaro’s Blog Mastermind Mentoring Program (about to open the doors again), SEO Book (Aaron’s legendary resource) and the excellent Teaching Sells course (which just continues to grow in what it offers to it’s members in terms of content).

The great thing about many of these programs is that they are of such high quality that they sell themselves and I am being emailed from readers who sign up to them thanking me for the recommendation!

6. Shopzilla

As I wrote recently - Shopzilla has really impressed me with how it’s performed over the last few weeks. It’s actually doing well enough to debut in this list at #6. The ads are similar to Chitika but the click values have been higher for me to this point. They don’t offer quite as many options as Chitika does in terms of types of ads but for a new ad network there’s definitely promising signs. I’m looking forward to seeing how they continue to develop!

7. ProBlogger Job Boards

The job boards here at ProBlogger continue to grow each month in the number of advertisements that are being bought. This enabled me to invest most of the money that they’d earned a while back into getting a new back end for the boards and to redesign them. It hit me today that the boards are now bringing in around $1000 a month in revenue which is pretty nice considering that they are so low maintenance to run. They also offer a service to readers and add value to the overall blog.

The only problem that I face with the job boards is that there are so many bloggers looking for work that the demand for jobs far exceeds the supply. On the good side of things is that advertisers are reporting getting amazing quality of applications.

8. WidgetBucks

Another newcomer to this list is WidgetBucks - another ad network that ProBlogger readers will be familiar with.

WidgetBucks is similar to Chitika and Shopzilla in many respects and works well on product related sites. It does best on sites with US traffic (the reason I’ve not used it as much as I get a lot of international traffic) so if you have a product related site with a US audience it’d be a no brainer to try out WidgetBucks. I’m hoping they’ll continue to expand their offerings in terms of ad types and visitor location.

9. Miscellaneous Advertising Programs

I also play with a number of other ad networks. Some I run as tests to see if I should review them here - and some are just advertising that run in the background on some of my smaller blogs. These include ShoppingAds, Feedburner RSS ads, Vizu (a poll advertising system), Kontera and Bidvertiser. Together these don’t add up to major earnings for me - not because they are not good, but because I don’t use them heavily (a blog can only run so many ads on it).

I think that that covers most of it although it’s worth mentioning that last time I did this list I also included TextLinkAds which used to be every bloggers favorite way to make money blogging by selling text links. I’ve stopped using them due to Google cracking down on them (read more about this here) but it’s worth noting that many bloggers still use them successfully - I advise to proceed with caution. Evry hubber's dream is to earn more with adsense earnings. But, most of the adsense optimisation strategies will not work for HubPages as you can not customize your adsense ads. I must tell you that, hubpages with the help of a technology called YieldBuild gets the best adsense ads and best price for every click. So, you need not do any optimisation. But, there are some tips that I learnt in the last few months with HubPages which I outline below.

The following tips are applicable to hubpages and these are based on my own experiences. I do not guarantee you will earn $100 a day from tomorrow, but if you constantly work hard and one fine day, you will earn more than $100 a day.

Write a big first paragraph: Every time you write a hub, include a minimum of 150 word paragraph as the first module. This will allow you HubPages to insert a medium rectangle (336 by 250) adsense ads beside that paragraph. By having this, your visitors have a good chance of seeing the ads (without the need to scroll down) and maximum number of ads beside your main content. Example: How to Make Delicious Indian Curry:Simple Recipe
Do not inert any images beside the first paragraph: If you want to include an image, insert just below the first paragraph. HubPages will show you the first image that you have in your hub in the Thumbnails (in the front page). Do not include any module (Links / RSS / News) beside the first paragraph.
Go back and review your hubs: If you do not have a first paragraph with images, or do not have a big first paragraph, then revise them all. Include a good lengthy first paragraph in all your published hubs.
Some topics earn more than others: The good topics with adsense are finance, home tips, beauty and fitness tips, product reviews and How-To articles. So, write hubs related to these topics.
Photo galleries do not earn much: I have to make a confession here. Photo galleries do not earn much from adsense. They bring more traffic to my hubs and photo galleries do not attract clicks.
Text-rich hubs attract clicks: Write more text-rich hubs to get more quality adsense ads. Because, when you have only images or photo galleries, the adsense engine confuse what sort of content that is and include junk ads which earn only few micro cents per click. So, write good article sprinkled with the certain keywords across the hub to tell the adsense engine what your hub is related to.
Choose your title wisely: Before you lock up the title of your hub, think for a while. Is the title descriptive enough to attract visitors? Because, even though search engines rank your site based on the keyword, after all, only humans read them. So, having a catchy title helps to attract visitors from the search engine results page. Once you decide the title, search that in a popular search engine and see if you need to modify the keywords.
Separate your long hub into different modules: Break your long hub into different text modules. The rough guide is each text module should have a maximum of 250 words. In this way, you are giving more opportunity to insert Google Ads in the middle.
Monitor your adsense earnings: Do not believe in all I say. Set up separate channels (you can track upto 180 different hubs based on their URLs) to monitor which type of hubs earn more money for you. Write those kind of hubs more often.
Publicize your HubPage links and RSS to directories: Go and search for the directories that list websites or RSS. Add your hubpages profile page and RSS link to those directories. Search engine traffic matters: The people those come from the search engines are most likely to click on your ads. Because, they are the ones looking for some information or product. You need not do anything to attract search engine traffic. HubPages optimize your hubpages automatically to get more search engine traffic.
Tags are everything: Add at least 15 tags to your hubs. These are the keywords that describe your hub's content. Add only relevant and good quality keywords.

There are programs such as Text Link Ads, Linkworth that offer text link ads and you can specify if you would include a 'no-follow' tag to avoid search engine rank penalties. To make $100 a day, you need on an average 1000 clicks (Yes, one thousand clicks on the adsense ads a day). This number of clicks is a rough figure, on some days, you would earn more and on some days, you may earn less.

Google will smart price your hubs based on the impressions vs. clicks ratio. So, this variation is unavoidable. If there are 100 impressions and only 5 clicks from a hub, Google will slap the hub with low-rate adsense ads, so, you will get only few cents per click from the hub. The quality of hub or the quality of content doesn't matter much for Google's adsense engine. But, only the number of clicks matter.

So, you need to publish more hubs and expect more clicks thats all you can do. HubPages takes care of bringing in more traffic and gets best ads for you.

A final word: Do not get dejected if you do not earn much from adsense earnings now. First aim to make $100 a month, it will take a while. Then, aim for $500 a month. If you own a blog (whatever the subject could be), then you are really lucky. You do not need to start from the scratch. Ideally, should be at least 3 months old, appear in Google results and have at least few visitors a day.

I am going to introduce to a new program called Linkworth - that will help you to make the money from blogging. Linkworth is an agency that connects advertisers and bloggers. Advertisers are constantly looking for websites, blogs and online pages to advertise and blogs offer a great medium for advertising. Advertisers pay as much as $100 to $200 a month. Let us be conservative in our estimates, and for a decent blog advertisers would pay $30 a month to place their ads on the blog. Bloggers can make money by renting their sidebar (or on specific page) for showing text ads.

You need to use the same colour scheme to match your website / blog's design scheme. Users should not scroll above or below to see your ads. The ads should be right in front of their eyes. No excuse if you make mistake on this tip.

Unfortunately, some adsense revenue sharing sites such as Hubpages do not allow you to have the control on the colour scheme or placement, but do this if you have a blog or website.

5. Build a reputation:

Two Ways of Money Making on Web

I should warn you that there are plenty of get-rich-quick scams available on the web. Since I never will fall into one, I will never drag any reader into one neither. I would only write a hub page here only when I am thoroughly convinced that it is a genuine way to make money on web. This information collected and presented here are verified by me and through by my friends who are making real money in a genuine, good way. The more sincere in your efforts, the more you will get rewarded.

There are fundamentally two genuine ways to earn money on web. They are,

1. Sell a service or

2. Sell a product.

If you choose to sell a service, you will earn only when you work. In other words, when you stop working, you don't earn money. Agreed?

But, if you sell a product, you will earn money from it even after you stopped working. Let me make this clear, for instance, if you shoot some photos with your digital camera and upload them to stock photo sites, you will earn money whenever someone downloads your photo. Every person who is downloading you photo from a stock photo site will have to pay royalty to you. You will earn from your photos for your lifetime, actually.

To make money by selling photographs, first you need to enrol in a stock photography site who will act as a agent to market and sell your photo. For example, Fotolia and Featurepics are two very well known biggest stock sites for entry level photographers like you and me. Dreamstime is another stock site that is very popular among semi-professional photographers. You can earn your photos to many stock sites at the same time, so, sign-up in at least 3 stock sites to know which one will work for you. All stock sites could work for you and you can earn money from more than one place for same photos.

2. Master your Digital Camera:

This is such a very simple yet powerful step and you need not spend money to master your digital cameras. All you have to do is to have a couple of good reads of the camera user manual, and plenty of practice. By looking at the best selling pictures, you can compare your skills. Try different modes and techniques with your digital cameras. And I will never advise to purchase a high-end SLR cameras at this stage, however, you can purchase a shiny digital SLR with your photo sale commissions if you are serious about photography.

3. Learn about selling your photos:

Obviously, there are some tricks of the trade. You need to learn what sells, how to sell and where to sell. Even, I am just a starter in selling photos and had a fair success rate with it and earned few dollars (it's always good to earn money). So, in the next section, I review an online course that I undertook and it taught me plenty of good tricks and tips of selling stock photos. It is one of best investment I had made so far and a friend of mine paid that course fees from his online earnings.

It varies depending on the stock photo agencies, as they pas from 30% to 80% commission. So, for each download you can make from 30 cents to $1. So, at the end of a month, if 100 people have downloaded your photo, then you would have made $30 to $100. You can also sell a photo on an "Exclusive Buyout License" for up to $300 a photo, but once you sold a photo on this condition, you loose all your rights, royalties etc.

To start selling your photographs, you need to join a micro stock agency. When you submit your application, you will be asked to submit few sample images. Your photos will be assessed for quality.

Make sure that you set your Camera Settings to highest quality (Refer to the Camera manual) and largest picture size and shoot some sample images with bright light and preferably inside a photo light box that you had created.

My friends have sugegsted that Fotolia is one of the easiest microstock agencies for new photographers to join. Fotolia offers 50% commission to you so, you will earn 50 cents whenever someone downloads your stock photo. You will get an easy approval and the process is very quick. Another good site is Dreamstime which provides 30% commission on each photo sales.

Both these sites have tremendous traffic, high sales records, so, with a good quality stock photo portfolio of 50 images, you can earn upto $100 assuming people have downloaded 200 times.

10 Tips to Make Money with Stock Photography

1. Look at the best selling stock images Fotolia,Dreamstime, Getty Images and Corbis Images. Note down the kind of images that you can easily re-shoot and use your creativity to shoot better photos.

2. Look which season or festival is coming next? For example, just before the Christmas Holidays, images and photos that signify Christmas / Santa / holidays / Gifts are sought over by every publisher. So, submit such images two months in advance. Now, is the best time to submit Easter images.

3. Describe your photos with relevant keywords. Again, look at some of the successful photographers on keyword suggestions.

4. Submit your images to more than one stock agency site. In this way, you could earn money with same photographs using different stock agencies. Refer to the Terms and Conditions of stock agencies before you do this.

5. Use bright lights, but avoid harsh shadows. If you use the light box, the light is diffused so you can shoot high-quality, professional photos.

6. Invite your friends and ask them to pose for your photos. People photographs are the highest selling stock photos. You need a signed, no-objection certificate from them (a model release) for using those photos comemrcially. You can learn about model release at fotolia.

7. Read your camera manual and understand the different modes to use it more effectively. Many professional photographers use simple Point and Click cameras because, they are the best to shoot close-up , macro photos.

8. Set your camera to shoot highest quality and largest size picture.

9. For every weekend, shoot at least 50 images and upload them to stock agencies. Always, always upload only the best images.

10. Prepare for rejections. In your early days, many of your images may get rejections for poor quality, blur, not having commercial value. Prepare for it, and always look at some winning photos.

Guidelines to submit Photos to Fotolia

Once you signed up with fotolia, you can straight away submit your images. In other stock agencies, you need to submit 3 or 5 images for review, then only you will be accepted.

Fotolia prefers photos with atleast 2000 x 3000 pixels.
Do not interpolate or upsize your images on photo editing programs.
Do not apply any sharpening (you may use it selectively).
All files should be 8 bit RGB Jpeg files with minimal compression.
All digital cameras store in this format, so you need not worry.
Images with sRGB color profiles are preferred.
If you can, do it with any photo editing program.
If your camera allows to shoot in RAW format, then choose that and convert to JPEG later with photo editor.

Before you submit your photos, look at your photos at the 1:1 zoom, in 'Actual Size'. Make sure that it doesn't contain noise or dirt like artefacts. Clean your lens with a moist lens cleaner cloth and set your camera settings to shoot very high quality or fine compression.

Forget everything you had read elsewhere. Forget all the things you have heard and seen elsewhere. I will show you a way to get all the money you need in the world. Yes, if you can dream how much money do you want, you can get it. Start with a fresh mind. Why some people suffer for long hours in the workplaces and earn very little? Why their bosses playing golf, eating lunches in the business class flights, fishing on a mid-weekday earn a plenty spending few hours a month in the office?

There's something weird going on this world. In this world, 90% of us are made to believe that we have to work 5 days (or 7 days) a week to earn our money. Not only that, we were told that we should not stop working until our retirement age (which is 48 or 56) and pay taxes every month (Govt. may give a portion of your taxes as the retirement benefits if you are alive!). Yes, 90% of those people belong to "working classes".

In the same world, the other 10% believe that making money is very easy. As easy as learning to drive a bike. You would fall down a couple of times (5 or 6 times if you are a hard-learner like me), but eventually you will master the art of making money. This 10% people believe that other people are hard-working, smart and will work for them if they pay you peanuts. They would enjoy the best house, best food, best car and all the best things in the world and manage things beside making loads of money. This 10% of people belong to "business classes".

We all know about working classes as most of us belong there. But, these business people - Who are they? What separates us from them? What secret they know that you and I do not know? How could they make so much money in so little time? Let us find the answers.

We need to change our Attitude

Robert Kiyosaki's ever green classic "Rich Dad Poor Dad" said it first. At the outset, you need to change your thinking, your attitude towards making money. It is as simple as that. The difficult thing, however, is to actually change the way you think. If you want to change your life, all you need to do is to change the way you think, change your beliefs and values.

1. Visualize the Billions

Now, tell me how much you want to earn in the next month. Think of a reasonable amount of money (‘reasonable; need not be low). Think how much do you want to earn. My reasonable money target will be much different from the target that you have on your mind. You can write down any amount of money as long as you believe the money and the time frame is possible. Let’s say, you want $500 from online earnings in the month of June 2008 (or whatever specific month). Feel grateful for all the money you receive now. Be thankful to everyone who directly or indirectly contributed. Thanks everyone. Remember the universe helped you to earn the money you wanted. Give back something to the society. Donate to a charity, feed a hungry person. Educate a child and help those need help. It works like a charm. If you act nice to the world, the world will act nice to you. You will continue to receive more and more wealth beyond your first billion.

Evry hubber's dream is to earn more with adsense earnings. But, most of the adsense optimisation strategies will not work for HubPages as you can not customize your adsense ads. I must tell you that, hubpages with the help of a called YieldBuild gets the best adsense ads and best price for every click. So, you need not do any optimisation. But, there are some tips that I learnt in the last few months with HubPages which I outline below.

Write a big first paragraph: Every time you write a hub, include a minimum of 150 word paragraph as the first module. This will allow you HubPages to insert a medium rectangle (336 by 250) adsense ads beside that paragraph. By having this, your visitors have a good chance of seeing the ads (without the need to scroll down) and maximum number of ads beside your main content. Choose your title wisely: Before you lock up the title of your hub, think for a while. Is the title descriptive enough to attract visitors? Because, even though search engines rank your site based on the keyword, after all, only humans read them. So, having a catchy title helps to attract visitors from the search engine results page. Once you decide the title, search that in a popular search engine and see if you need to modify the keywords.
Separate your long hub into different modules: Break your long hub into different text modules. The rough guide is each text module should have a maximum of 250 words. In this way, you are giving more opportunity to insert Google Ads in the middle.
